The Principal post is meant for experienced candidates from higher education rather than fresh teaching applicants. A Ph.D. Degree is required along with the academic and professional experience prescribed for the post.
Candidates interested in Principal posts of Law Colleges or teacher-training / B.Ed. institutions should also satisfy the regulatory conditions applicable to those institutions. The relevant BCI, NCTE and other prescribed norms should therefore be checked along with the general Principal eligibility.
Academic qualification alone is not enough for this recruitment. Teaching or research experience, publications and the required research score form an important part of eligibility and will have to be supported by valid records during the selection process.
Candidates should refer to Advertisement No. 02/2026 for the complete age and service conditions applicable to the Principal post.

The Principal written examination is scheduled for 24 September 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Candidates should follow the reporting time printed on their own admit card rather than treating 9:30 AM as the reporting time.
The Principal selection begins with an objective written examination carrying 360 marks. The paper contains 120 multiple-choice questions and candidates get two hours to complete it.
Candidates shortlisted through the prescribed process will proceed to the interview. The interview carries 40 marks, making the written examination and interview together a 400-mark selection process.
The required academic record, experience, publications and Research Score remain relevant even after a candidate appears in the written examination. These requirements must be supported with the prescribed documents during scrutiny or verification.
Final selection will be made according to the recruitment rules after considering the applicable written examination and interview stages and verifying that the candidate fulfils the prescribed eligibility conditions.
