Candidates applying for UP TGT Recruitment 2026 must possess the educational and professional qualifications prescribed for their selected subject.
For most academic subjects, the main requirements are:
Graduation in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks, or a Postgraduate degree with at least 45% marks, as permitted for the subject.
B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised institution.
A qualifying Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for the upper-primary level (Classes 6 to 8), conducted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh or the Government of India, as specified in the notification.
Some subjects have different or additional qualifications. For example, Physical Education, Music, Agriculture, Art and Social Science have their own subject-specific requirements.
Candidates must check the qualification prescribed for their chosen subject in the official notification. A graduation degree alone does not make a candidate eligible for every TGT subject.

Maximum Age: 62 Years
The upper age limit is linked to the prescribed retirement age for the post. Candidates should check the official notification for applicable age conditions and reservation provisions.
